How do I place an order with Verlena Cakes?

Easy! Just head to our contact page and fill in the form with as much information as possible so that I can put together an initial quote for you and get the ball rolling.

To secure your date a 50% deposit is required. Cancellations within 14-8 days notice of the booking date for celebration cakes, or a month from the wedding date, will result in a refund of 50% of the deposit. Cancellations will less notice than this will render the deposit non refundable.

How much notice do you need?

As I take on a limited number of cakes every week it really is a first come, first served situation. I generally need a minimum of one weeks notice, however last minute orders may be able to be accommodated. During peak wedding season (October through to March) we may book out up to six months in advance. If you know you have an event coming up that requires cake I suggest you get in touch sooner rather than later!

Can I try your cake before I order?

As we are a registered home based business I don’t offer in-house tastings. However, I do offer tasting boxes with a selection of our most popular flavours quarterly. I honestly believe that you can't be expected to lock in the cake for your most important day without knowing it is going to taste delicious!

Tasting boxes can be booked by emailed through. The cost of these is deductible from your wedding cake quote.

Unfortunately I am not able to offer tastings for celebration cakes at this time.

What flavours do you offer?

You can view our full cake menu online here, but if your favorite isn’t listed please don’t hesitate to let me know. I love to experiment with new flavours and, who knows, it may just become a Verlena Cakes staple!

What do your cakes cost?

Tough one! As my cakes are made to order, the cost is dependent on a number of variables, including portion size, number of guests and, most importantly, design. Each cake is unique in the amount of time that goes into it and the materials required.

All my cakes are baked from scratch using the highest quality ingredients. A lot of my cake designs involve labour intensive and skilled decorative elements which need to be accounted for in my costing. These decorative skills are a reflection of my experience in the industry.

As a guide, a 6” (12-20 serves) buttercream cake starts at $120

I don’t like fondant. Is there another option?

Absolutely! Although fondant provides a lovely smooth finish that allows for a huge variety of design options it is certainly not the only choice! I also work with chocolate ganache and Swiss meringue buttercream, both delicious and both allowing for their own unique finishes and decorative elements. Ask me about your options when we’re discussing your cake design.

Do you do carved novelty cakes?

Simply put…nope. It’s just not my jam. However there are plenty of other way to incorporate a particular theme- just ask.

Do you deliver?

I prefer to deliver all wedding cakes and celebration cakes over two tiers to ensure they make it to their final destination in one piece. Delivery incurs and extra charge depending on the location and will be factored into your quote.

Celebration cakes can be collected with prior arrangement from our base in Mandurah.

Are you a licenced business?

Sure are! We are a registered food business within the City of Mandurah, and undergo regular health inspections for this licence.

Do you cater to dietary requirements?

Whilst I am more than happy to create nut or gluten free options for your guests I cannot guarantee that there will not be traces, as these items are present in my kitchen.
